Complaining and More

There is something wrong with me. I am on vacation and I am hating it. I seem to have turned into one of those people that does nothing but bitch and moan about men. Actually about the lack of men in my life. I don’t know I think I am just lonely. I have spent spent 2 full days with my mother, and 4 days alone except for an evening softball game and and hanging with a good friend of mine. I did a lot of wondering the city which has also turned my body against me. My ankle is killing me and I have somehow developed a heat rash. Yay me!

Don’t get me wrong, I love my mother and the time I spent with her was great, I also love playing ball with my co-workers who I also consider to be good friends, and my friend who I hadn’t seen in a while, we went to an improv show and had dinner in a place that was having a 50’s dance party, the music was awesome, I really did have a good time. It is just that after it made my time alone worse. That is a very glass empty statement but I have never claimed to be an optimist.

I guess I am jealous of the other people in my life. I am not first in anyone’s book. And that is not a statement to make anyone feel bad it is just my friends have significant others, kids, longer standing friendships, and families that they put before me. That is totally understandable and I hold that against no one. It just means I am alone often. I guess that is also what happens when you choose the live alone. As you’ve seen with this blog I try to keep myself occupied but there is a point where you get sick of doing things solo.

Outing news. I have been going to baseball games lately.

Here is a lovely pic of the open dome on a sunny afternoon that I took from some great seats. The Blue Jays have lost every game I have been to sadly, I think I am bad luck.

In entertainments news, I have been doing some reading and movie watching. I recently read “Eleanor & Park” by Rainbow Rowell.

A sweet endearing tale of young love, the struggle to be understood, and the pain of growing up.

I also read “The Fault in Our Stars” by John Green.

I read it before the movie came out, I have yet to watch the movie. It is also a book about young love but with cancer all over it adding that extra level of emotions.

I have to say I hate myself for reading both those books. They were so phenomenally good. Yes they are both considered to be YA books but they were so clearly written for adults as there is this sense of nostalgia in every word. They make you remember moments that never existed and swoon at cheesy lines that were never said. They both made me laugh and, I shouldn’t admit this, they both made me cry…just a little though, like one tear each.

I saw Edge of Tomorrow.

It was surprisingly good. It was a well thought out sci-fi film that utilized the world that it created. Yes the movie is 80% a montage but it works. The only thing this movie suffers from is Tom Cruise. I think if he wasn’t in it, it would have been better and more people would have seen it. He is not the draw he used to be, he is really a deterrent. When I first heard of this movie, even though the concept was cool, he was attached to it and I automatically lost interest. But then the trailers came out and yes it intrigued me but I still wasn’t that interested. I didn’t rush to the theatre to see it, I was just in a theatre (to use the bathroom) and it was starting in 5 mins and I said to myself, “What the hell?” It was good so I do recommend it. Plus the aliens are kinda cool. And I have to say Emily Blunt should be an action star. She is one tough lady in this and, even though thin, powerful.

This is super late but I also saw X-Men: Days of Future Past on opening day.

I may have been buzzing a bit as I sat in the theatre to watch this but it was awesome! I really loved it. It just told a really good story with interesting characters (who happen to have powers) and great performances. You all know this by now. If not, for shame. Go watch it!

I watched the crap out of “Orange is the New Black” Season 2.

I didn’t think it was possible for them to keep up the same level as in Season 1 but they did. The writing, the story, the acting, everything was just fantastic. Also, for the guys that weren’t sure about this there are a whole lot more boobs in this season.

In nail news I haven’t done my hands in a while but I have done my toes.

I was just doing something plaid like but I have been asked a couple times if it is the flag of some country. No it is not. Just some red and some lines. I really didn’t know what to do when I was doing this. I took this shot as I was getting ready to go to work, pre-vacation, and as you can see I was already wearing my brace again. New sandals though!

For this I used 5 polishes and a thin brush, you can probably tell I free handed the lines.

How could you not know that? John Green has been going on about it for months. Not that it is a bad thing, it was just hard to miss. I wasn’t even planning on reading the book but then I found his reading of the first 2 chapters, that pulled me right in.
